Training

CandLE’s training programmes are the result of many years of experience working with the most complex students and enabling them to learn and communicate. We provide training for schools, families, local authorities, community groups and for AAC users. We offer training in AAC, use of equipment and software, access to the curriculum, learning theory and the teaching of literacy.

Our training can be provided through videos, remote training, insets and a range of courses that can be tailored to the needs of the individuals or organisation.

Specialist teachers can provide one hour, half day and full day training courses for groups on adapting curriculum, teaching literacy and AAC. These sessions will include theory and research input along with interactive activities. These can be one of our ready made training packages or bespoke training to suit the needs of the group.

We have training videos that focus on AAC, literacy and curriculum access. Contact us for more information: training@candleaac.com

We can provide on-going support with schools in adapting curriculum, software and equipment training and supporting students who rely on AAC. This can be part of an on-going training course for teachers and TA’s, continued support with the school to implement literacy systems or adapting curriculum for particular students. We can also provide one-off training sessions, either in person or remotely via Zoom.

The AAC qualifications are designed to be wide reaching qualifications that allow learners who have little or no natural speech to develop effective communication that enables access to further opportunities, both socially, educationally and as a strong key to independent living.

Learners will be able to develop knowledge and/or skills to operate independently and effectively in life, learning and work. Each learner will develop communications to his or her full potential using whichever aids are most appropriate to his/her needs.

At the end of this course the participant will gain a qualification in the use of AAC. This course is often offered to students we support with curriculum as an extra qualification to go alongside their general learning qualifications and to improve their communication skills.
